Run the pump longer in summerDurban's heat and rain mean more algae risk. Run your pump more hours a day in summer so all the water is filtered and circulated.
Keep the water level mid-skimmerToo low and the pump can suck air and run dry; too high and the weir can't skim leaves. Aim for the middle of the skimmer opening.
Backwash when the pressure risesNote your filter's normal pressure when clean. When the gauge climbs well above that, backwash and rinse to clear the sand.
